Privacy
We collect very little: statistics about how the site is used, and nothing else.
What we collect
There are no accounts, comments, ads or newsletter sign-ups on The Circuit, so we don't ask for your name, email address or any other personal information.
We use Google Analytics to understand how people use the site: which stories are read, how readers find us, and roughly where they are (country and region), on what kind of device and browser. It does this with cookies (named _ga and_ga_*) that tell repeat visits apart. We use these numbers only in aggregate, to decide what to cover and to improve the site. We don't use them for advertising, and we don't sell or share them.
Who processes it
- Google processes the analytics data on our behalf, and may store it outside Canada, including in the United States, where it is subject to local law. Seehow Google uses information from sites that use its services.
- Cloudflare hosts the site and, like any web host, handles the technical details of each request (such as your IP address) to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse. SeeCloudflare's privacy policy.
Our fonts and images are served from our own site, not from third parties.
How to opt out
- Block or delete cookies for thecircuit.ca in your browser's settings. The site works the same without them.
- Install Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
- Content blockers and browsers with tracking protection usually block Google Analytics too.
Changes
If we change what we collect, we'll update this page and the date below.
