Freedom Mobile has refreshed its bring-your-own-phone plans in Manitoba and says it’s preparing to “switch on its own wireless network in the province,” iPhone in Canada reports.
Highlights of the new lineup, with Freedom’s $5 auto-pay discount and an ongoing $5 credit on plans from $40:
| Price | Data | Roaming data |
|---|---|---|
| $35 | 35GB | 1GB |
| $40 | 125GB | 5GB |
| $45 | 175GB | 10GB |
| $55 | 250GB | 10GB |
| $65 | 250GB | 20GB |
All plans include talk and text in Canada, the U.S. and Mexico. The 125GB-and-up tiers come in $5 cheaper than Freedom’s equivalent plans in Ontario and B.C. In February 2025, Manitoba plans topped out at 60GB.
Freedom says it will build its Manitoba network starting in Winnipeg, and sister brand Fizz will use it too. The company has spent more than $35 million on spectrum in the province. It hasn’t given a launch date.
Why it matters: A carrier running its own towers, instead of renting space on someone else’s, competes harder on price and coverage. These plans are an early sign of how Freedom plans to win Manitoba customers, and Bell and Rogers will have to respond.
